On 1 August 2019, French Senator and President of the Groupe d’amitié parlementaire France – Pays du Golfe Jean-Marie Bockel (UC) has released a communiqué in response to the execution of AlMalali and AlArab. In the statement, Mr. Bockel opposes capital punishment in every place and every circumstance. Furthermore, he reiterates the French position in favour of universal abolition of the death penalty. He calls upon all the retentionist countries to establish a moratorium towards its definitive abolition.
