On Monday the 7th of March, ECDHR sent a letter to members of the Danish parliament as part of the campaign “We Race for Freedom”, aimed at the release of the Bahraini-Danish human rights defender Abdulhadi al-Khawaja. We specifically highlighted the contradiction stemming from the sponsorship of the 2023 Bahrain Grand Prix, an event that might well contribute to the sportswashing of the unfair imprisonment and inhuman treatment of a Danish citizen, by a Danish company. Among other things, ECDHR requested the MPs to guarantee human rights due diligence for Danish businesses.
